Zhangjiagang Imports Cotton

According to statistics from Zhangjiagang entry exit inspection and Quarantine Bureau, the import volume of cotton in Zhangjiagang port rebounded sharply in December two, eight.

The Bureau inspected sixty-two batches, 21000 tons and 30845000 US dollars of imported cotton, representing an increase of Thirty-eight percent, eighteen percent and sixteen percent respectively compared with the same period last year.

In the past three months, the inspection volume of imported cotton dropped by nearly fifty percent compared with the same period last year.

According to analysis, the main reason for the recent sharp rebound in cotton imports at Zhangjiagang port is that the demand for cotton in China's textile industry has declined and the domestic cotton harvest has been greatly affected by the financial crisis. It is estimated that the domestic demand for cotton in the textile industry will be greatly reduced in two and nine, and the quota of imported cotton will be correspondingly reduced.

Two, cotton prices are relatively stable in recent years. In order to import cotton before the quota expires, most of Zhangjiagang's manufacturers purchase foreign cotton entrusted to store cotton in Shanghai and Qingdao bonded areas and pfer to Zhangjiagang port for inspection.
